Rob Refsnyder had a career night against the Texas Rangers on Saturday.
Despite a Red Sox loss, Refsnyder recorded his first career multi-home run game. He finished the night 4-for-4 with three RBIs to go with the pair of long balls.
The Rangers started a lefty arm, and Refsnyder — who’s becoming a reliable right-handed bat in Boston’s lineup — took advantage. Both of his home runs came off lefty Cody Bradford, including a first-inning solo shot to give the Red Sox an early lead.

“He’s been great for us,” Alex Cora said postgame. “I know a lot of people only see him as a platoon guy, right? One that faces lefties. We have confidence that he’s a guy that when they bring a righty, there’s some good matchups, too.”
Refsnyder blasted another solo shot three innings later that gave Boston a 3-0 lead before Texas got going late to seal a 7-4 win. Refsnyder was responsible for all but one of the Red Sox’ runs on Saturday.

Refsnyder doesn’t have the same flash or name recognition as some of his clubhouse peers, but he’s quietly providing a consistent output of offense in 2024. The outfielder is batting .314 with seven home runs, 29 RBIs, and a .909 OPS.
Refsnyder’s emergence is crucial as the Red Sox continue to struggle vs. left-handed pitchers and lack righty batters to combat the southpaws. Although it didn’t translate to a win on Saturday night, Refsnyder helped oust Bradford in under four innings.
“It was a great night for him,” Cora said.
