Great white shark shows off its teeth for researchers near Scituate

A great white shark visiting the area to feast on dead whale carcass took a break from its meal to greet some local researchers.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy shared a video of the “curious” great white, who appears to nudge the camera and show off his rows of triangular teeth. 

The AWSC, a nonprofit research center focused on the apex predators, captured the underwater video of the shark when dozens of animals were attracted to a floating whale carcass off the coast of Scituate last month.

“When the team was viewing white sharks feeding on the whale carcass off of Scituate, MA a few weeks ago, they were able to get some video of this curious white shark,” the organization shared on X.

At the time, a father and son duo came across six great white sharks feasting on the whale about six miles away from Scituate.

The curious shark shared by the AWSC also appeared to have something hanging from his mouth. The organization said the shark had some “unique markings along its face.” 

In the video, you can see the shark has markings, maybe scarring, on its snout and in front of its eyes.
