A segment of the Green Line B branch will be closed for track work from Aug. 2 through Aug. 11, the MBTA says.
Free shuttle buses will replace service between the Boston College and Babcock Street T stops, the MBTA said, but will not service Allston Street, Griggs Street, and Packard’s Corner due to “accessibility issues,” according to a statement from the MBTA.
Transit ambassadors and other MBTA personnel will be available to assist riders, but the MBTA recommends riders plan for “extra travel time.”
The 10-day closure is part of the MBTA’s Track Improvement Program which will “replace tracks and ties to alleviate speed restrictions” and make “station amenity upgrades,” including new lighting, painting, tiling, and power washing, the MBTA said in a statement.
Commuters can also expect some motor vehicle lane closures on Commonwealth Avenue. The crosswalk at Warren Street and Commonwealth Avenue will be closed for several days.
“The important work accomplished during this Green Line B branch service suspension means riders will experience a more reliable trip with fewer unplanned service disruptions related to older tracks, older infrastructure, signal issues, or power problems,” the statement said. “Riders will also be provided with a safer ride as a result of this state of good repair work.”
