Aerosmith permanently retires from touring: ‘Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true’

The band released a statement on social media Friday citing frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal injury as the reason behind their retirement.

Aerosmith, a Boston-born rock phenomenon, will no longer tour on stage due to frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal cord injury.

The band broke the news in a social media post on Friday, saying they were canceling upcoming concerts due to the 76-year-old singer’s health struggle. In September, Tyler fractured his larynx, prompting the band to postpone the rest of their “Peace Out” farewell tour.

“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other,” the band wrote. “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”

The band called it a “heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision” and said anyone who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will receive an automatic refund. They asked anyone who purchased tickets through third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, and VividSeats to contact those groups for refund information.
