A person was stabbed near Boston University Bridge Thursday morning, prompting a large police presence near BU’s campus, officials said.
Massachusetts State Police said BU police reported the stabbing to troopers just before noon, and Boston police responded “because the exact location of the stabbing was unclear” and could have crossed jurisdictions.
The victim was transported with serious injuries to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
BU sent out emergency alerts to students warning of the “large police presence” at Storrow Drive East and University Road around noon. A BU spokesperson confirmed there was no threat to the campus and no one from the university was involved.
State Police said a man fleeing to the Cambridge side of the Charles River was apprehended and transported to the hospital after the stabbing. Investigators said they determined he was not a suspect in the stabbing but there are several outstanding warrants for his arrest.
State Police said they are continuing to look “for a suspect who they believe may have committed the stabbing.”
