A man was struck and killed by a commuter rail train in Beverly on Wednesday — the city’s second train-related death in as many weeks.
According to MBTA Transit Police, the adult man was trespassing on the right-of-way around 8:25 p.m. when he was struck by an inbound commuter rail train in the vicinity of Beverly’s Prides Crossing neighborhood.
Transit Police did not identify the man, who died from his injuries. Authorities do not suspect foul play.
“On behalf of the TPD and the entire MBTA organization we express our sincere condolences to the decedent’s family and friends,” Transit Police Supt. Richard Sullivan said in a statement.
Earlier in July, a commuter rail train struck and killed a man who was trespassing on the Beverly drawbridge, which carries the Newburyport/Rockport Line across the Danvers River in Beverly and Salem.
